Tea is a beverage with a long history that is equally adored in Asia, Europe, and other parts of the world. The Hindi word for tea in the south Asian region is chai. It is referred to as Cha in Chinese. While in the English language, tea is associated with a spicy, fragrant beverage from India. Hot boiling water, black tea,  milk, sugar, and a variety of spices—including cardamom, cinnamon, fennel, black pepper, and cloves—are traditionally used to make chai.

History of Tea:

The origins of tea can be found in India, where the kings used to purchase this beverage for medicinal purposes due to its curative qualities, more than 5000 years ago. This precious drink soon spread to China, and from there it was imported to England and the rest of Europe in the 17th century and quickly gained popularity in the European aristocracy, becoming an essential part of their life As tea became increasingly popular, the cultural significance of this drink also grew In Europe, the culture of drinking tea became an expression of refinement, associated with fine furniture and tableware that were specially designed for this purpose.

What s tea made up of:

The ingredients and making of tea vary from family to family and culture to culture and there is no universal recipe and no defined ingredients for the tea. Some basic components of tea are

  •  Boiling Water
  • Milk
  • Sugar (simple or brown)
  • Black tea (powder or tea bags)
  • Clove
  • Cardamom
  • Ginger
  • Black pepper

How to make Tea at home:

  • Add some water to the teapot and brew it till the water bubble appear. In the meanwhile, boil the desired amount of milk.
  • Make the tea mix by adding black tea to boiling water and boiling it until the colour of the water changes.
  • Now add finely crushed spices (clove, cardamom, black pepper, and others) in the water and boil. The water-stepped chai mixture is ready.
  • Now pour some milk and tea sweetener into the tea mix.
  • The tea is ready. Pour it into teapots and enjoy.

Different types of Tea:

Although black tea is the predominant component of tea today, it wasn’t always the case. Originally, tea was just a simple, medicinal beverage. At that time, other spices were the primary ingredients in tea, and many people did not drink black tea. At the time of colonization, British people altered the prevalent view of tea. Today’s tea has become more versatile thanks to the use of preferred preparation techniques and regionally specific spices. Tea is not only full of flavour and energizing, but also healthy and restorative. The most considered benefits associated with tea are,

  • Black tea and cinnamon, two ingredients in chai tea, may both lower cholesterol and blood pressure. However, more research is required to specifically examine the effects of chai tea.
  • Green tea is rich in antioxidants which delay ageing by eliminating reactive oxygen species.
  • These can alleviate nausea and significantly improve digestion by adding ginger to it.
  • Tea with the addition of turmeric powder has anti-inflammatory properties and accelerates the process of healing.
  • Cinnamon, cloves, and Cardamom all of these have anti-microbial properties thus preventing bacterial infection.
